| Personally, I prefer any type of speed gear.
Especially since I rush bases a lot and bunny hop like crazy (jumping around numerous times in an attempt to make it harder for the enemy to shoot at me).
I'll usually go for a recon vest/cyclops bandanna, light vest, combat beanie, or whatever else provides a good amount of speed without any bad cons.

| Lol, I'm like the exact opposite of you. I use the Heavy vest, and my AN-94 has pretty bad portability. I do wear the combat beanie tho, try and make up for like, -10% speed or something around there... | |

Well, I'm the total exact opposite of Dying, but I'm totally opposite when it comes to guns and recoil. Personally, I tend to use and like guns with high recoil (AK's, G36E's in most cases) probably because I'm just used to tap firing. I can never stand using any type of gun that has little to no recoil at all, and tap firing with those guns just doesn't seem the same.

| Speed and armor is the best (obviously). Apparently hs protection is useless statistically so its best to get headgear and face equipment that increases speed rather than protection therefor when I get high enough rank I'll get speed headgear and make it up with a heavy vest. Its amazing how much a few points in speed and armor can do. Has anyone tried going vestless in a sniper only game (since people almost always use an l9 or is it impossible to go vestless)? | |

| I'm more of a camping sniper on the larger maps, but I still use the light vest often. This is because I can rapidly change position, snipe, and then move on again. I also have an advanced backpack which would make me too easy a target with a heavy vest's speed detriment.
There's an art to camping effectively, and it's not just sitting on the Bravo tower in Snow Valley. You should always move around and use ALL of your cover and not just rely on killing others before they kill you, because sniper positions are usually always open to enemy snipers.
Yeah, you could probably tank an L9 shot to the chest while wearing a heavy vest, but if you're not smart enough to move, the entire enemy team can know where you are, flank you, and kill you before you have the time to react. If, however, you're wearing a light vest, you move around so much that there's less of a chance of getting shot in the first place, and you'll be a much better sniper.
The downside to speed gear is you have to know how to pick your battles. You can't be hit by a sniper round from any gun (SR25 included, I think?), so you can't snipe in the wide open like you could with a heavy vest. Speed gear also requires you to have an intricate knowledge of the map and the team you're playing... How enemies move, where choke points are, what areas can be safely traversed and what areas you should leave to your teammates.
There are upsides and downsides to any armor set, but if you know how to utilize the light vest best, you can cover a huge swath of the map better than any heavy vest user.
And for headgear, it's obvious speed gear prevails over headshot protection... If you were shot in the head by a G36E that did a total of 150 damage before HS protection, the equation for the total damage would be:
150 - 150(.05) = total damage 150 - 7.5 = total damage 142.5 or 143 damage rounded = total damage, which is still a lethal shot any way you look at it.
Even with another 15% total protection from a vest (20% total) you couldn't tank a shot like that:
150 - 150(.2) = td 150 - 30 = td 120 = total damage, yet again a lethal shot.
With a sniper round hitting you in the head, headshot protection becomes even more of a joke.

Btw why doesn't my siggy show? You have to turn it on in the settings. Go to your profile and under preferences check yes to "Always attach my signature".

| Well, if your going for stats, the "best" are...
Speed (Generally for SMG Rushers/Bunny Hoppers) - Mei (10% speed boost does NOT include her light vest) + Cyclops Bandana + Patriot Mask/Anti-Flash Goggles = A whopping 30% speed boost at the cost of 20% protection.
Balance (Generally good for Short-to mid range AR Users) - Tanker Vest + Cyclops + Patriot Mask = Offers a substantial protection of 17% while giving a 1% speed boost OR Assault Vest + Cyclops Bandana + Patriots Mask/Anti-Flash goggles for 10% speed 10% protection.
Protection - (Good for snipers because it gives you the protection to tank shots, and you don't have to move to much) Hauser, but I can't get exact protection/speed stats because I don't know the stats of Commando Vest.

| I'm not a fan of vests. I just use the right gun for the right situation. AN-94 mid-long as well as countersniping. Skorp short and as sidearm. L9 camping. M416 CQB short-mid. | |

| I dont really use vest that much mostly cuz i think its a waste of GP and you dont need the vests to be good at the game but if i had to choose one i guess i would take the tanker vest. idk | |

| If it's for GP, I would go for the light vest, BUT if it was for NX I would prefer any. | |
