Voice Chat

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not people can hear you while you are pressing the "test mic" button. Some noobs weren't starting a game so I got bored and started saying random things through the test mic button to decide if I liked the volume and I got kicked. The only explanation I can come up with is either they thought that a kdr of 2 is too high or they could hear me through the mic.

Yeah, I've tested out the built-in mic on my laptop before, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. (People often relog because of it happening to them.) I think I got a response once, but the other times, I don't know if people just can't hear me or are ignoring me. The mic image turns yellow when I press the button, but for some reason, CA doesn't play my voice input back through my audio output (earbuds) so I can't tell if it's going through the mic all right.

No, you shouldn't be able to hear other people when they're testing their mic, as far as I know. I've done it occasionally and no one seems to notice.

That's the thing, though. The test mic button only turns my mic icon (micon?) yellow, but I can't tell if my mic is picking up anything. I can't hear the audio playback, so I kinda depend on other people responding. When I tested in-lobby, people only responded once, so it's either not consistent or a lot of people have voice chat turned off.

@fishythefish If they have a red Voice symbol next to their names then they have disabled voice chat which means they cant hear you, if the symbol is white with a line through it it means that there mic is disabled but they can still hear you. When the mic symbol is just White that means there mic is enabled and they can talk and hear you then when the mic symbol is yellow the mic is outputting sound. (Game Lobby only)
Most people already know this I know but I was just clarifying this, anyways I can help you test to see if your mic is working or not in-game and game lobby if you want in a private room?

@Daraku9 No, people can not hear you when you use the mic tester, nor can you hear other people. Agreeing with Tyleh.

I know what the color code is - that's why I'm confused by the inconsistency with which people seem to respond to my in-lobby tests. In any case, I never use a mic while playing; I just wanted to see if my laptop had the potential to do it directly without a headset.

If it has one then it should, it just doesn't work with some games
