| I live in Australia, but have no idea about South Australia banning or moving M rated video games.
If the new bill passes, and making montages are illegal, I bet at least half the videos on Youtube will be removed. Heaps of videos there are gaming montages. Does this also mean we can't upload gameplay as well? Oh, and since I live in Australia, I don't think that I will be affected in anyway.

Australia's been trying to censor violent video games for ages, to no avail. It's important to note that the bill isn't directly addressing montage videos, so there's a good chance it'll probably get changed in light of some really vague wording. Even if it doesn't, I seriously doubt any decent game developers decide to pursue legal action.

| Well if they tried to introduce a law censoring violent video games, I highly doubt that it would be passed. There would be a lot of people against, as there isn't too much harm caused by these games. I mean, it's not like people are going around shooting people thinking it's a video game right?
If montage videos are banned, many game producers would definitely pursue legal action to stop the bill. Many players were attracted to games due to montage videos. I remember starting Combat Arms after watching a pretty cool montage video.

You're right, and that's why in the past it hasn't worked out so well for laws like that in Australia. - Randomprsn wrote:

Well, that's exactly what I mean. The only logical reason to sue would be if montage videos damaged their revenue, so since montages actually help generate interest in certain games. That's why I'm saying no decent game developer would pursue legal action. EDIT: Also this.
